
This year for Christmas, we're travelling to see Kristie's family and during the trip her sister Kerry and I are going to have a culinary battle. The theme: Pizza.
I'll admit without reservation that I've felt some mild trepidation at the thought of competing against Kerry in the pizza arena since she already has a delicious sauce recipe and has more experience with gourmet pizza making. I don't make pizza at home very often and when I do, I stick to the basic toppings: pepperoni, ham, pineapple, olives, etc. When we make pizza, we usually let the boys make their own pizzas on oven-safe plates (sprayed with non-stick spray). They flatten out the dough right on the plate and then top it with what they like.
So, I've been thinking a lot about what to make for the competition and tonight I decided to try out some ideas. I can't yet tell you exactly what I did (because Kerry will probably read this) but after the big showdown, I'll post the recipe.
Oh, and it was DANG GOOD!
