With Kristie and the kids away, I've been concocting some culinary experiments - because, hey, if it doesn't turn out, I'm the only one who has to suffer. I've been working on a home-made pasta that actually turned out pretty well on the first try, though I'm working to have things perfected by the time the family comes back. I'm also playing with a recipe for some artisan bread that I found online. Recipes to follow (once they're perfected).
Anyway, I decided to cook up some ribs for myself (hey, they were on sale, ok?) and I figured I'd take things one step further and make my own barbecue sauce. I didn't even buy a bottle as backup - so it's a darned good thing it worked out! I think I came up with a pretty good base sauce - and I've thought of ways to change it up for variety: maybe a chipotle kick or a teriyaki backdrop. In the end, I decided I'll avoid the bottled sauce from now on because it wasn't much work and it tasted pretty darned good.
